Custom business software development
Internal tools, reporting dashboards, workflow systems and staff portals that replace the spreadsheets, disconnected products and repetitive manual steps an organisation accumulates as it grows.
These systems are used every day, so reducing manual work, duplicate data entry and avoidable errors can have an immediate operational effect.
- We watch the process before we design anything
- Built for the people using it daily, not only the people buying it
- Connects to the systems you already pay for
- Documented, owned by you, supported afterwards
Replacing spreadsheets and manual processes
Many organisations have a spreadsheet that has gradually become essential. What began as a quick way to track one process gains columns and formulas over time, until several people depend on it and changing anything feels risky.
Spreadsheets are genuinely good tools, and replacing one for its own sake is a waste of money. The point at which it stops being the right answer is usually when several people need to work in it at once, when you cannot tell who changed what, when the same information has to be copied somewhere else, or when a mistake is expensive and nothing prevents it.
- Two people cannot safely work on it at the same time
- Nobody can say who made a change, or when, or why
- The same data is re-entered into another system by hand
- Access is all or nothing, so people see more than they should
- Reporting means somebody rebuilding a pivot table every month
- A system several people can use at once without overwriting each other
- A record of who did what, which matters more than people expect
- Permissions that match the roles the organisation actually has
- Validation that checks data before it is accepted, reducing avoidable mistakes
- Reports available without rebuilding the same pivot tables each month
What we build
Internal tools
Software for the people who run the organisation day to day, with screens and records shaped around the sequence of work they follow.
Reporting dashboards
Numbers the leadership team trusts, pulled from the systems that hold them, without a monthly ritual of exporting and reconciling.
Workflow and approvals
Multi-step processes with the right people involved at the right point, and a clear view of what is waiting on whom.
Staff portals
One place for the team to find what they need, with permissions that reflect the roles the organisation actually has.
Operational platforms
Systems that run a core part of the business, from scheduling and resourcing to stock, cases or compliance records.
Data cleanup and migration
Moving accumulated records into the new system while preserving their history and making data quality issues visible.
Questions we get asked
Will our team actually use it?
That depends almost entirely on whether they were involved in shaping it. Internal software gets abandoned when it makes somebody’s day harder in exchange for making a report easier upstream, so we spend time with the people who will use it before deciding what it does.
Can it work with the systems we already have?
Usually. Most internal tools need to read from or write to your existing CRM, finance or booking systems, because a standalone tool soon becomes one more place to update by hand. See software integrations for how we handle that.
Could we do this with a no-code tool instead?
Sometimes, and if that is genuinely the better answer we will say so. No-code platforms work well until you need a permission model they do not support, an integration they do not offer, or you reach a licence cost that scales with your headcount. Bespoke tends to make sense when the process is central to how the business operates.
What happens to the data in our spreadsheets?
It usually comes with you. Migration is part of the project, and it is often where the awkward discoveries happen, since years of accumulated records rarely follow the rules anybody assumed they did.
